PDM has been reproducing original art utilizing a digital workflow since 1998. Each step of our process is color managed. Our camera, computer screens, and printers all use custom ICC Profiles to insure the greatest possible color accuracy.
IMAGE CAPTURE
To create the highest quality reproductions you need to start with the largest, clearest, full resolution image capture. That is why we use a Betterlight scan back mounted on a 4 x 5 view camera. Our captured images contain more tone values, greater shadow detail, and are free of noise and grain.
As an option to our Betterlight captures, we can reproduce your art from transparencies. Our 11,000 dpi scanner is capable of outputting images at up to 2000% of their original size. We have profiles for many types and brands of transparency material to insure the highest level of color reproduction in your final print.
COLOR CORRECTION
Captured images are color corrected by our Color Specialists using a variety of software and proprietary processes. All color judgements are made under controlled lighting conditions.
PRINTING
Fine Art and Photo prints are produced on our Canon IPF 9000 using 12 color Lucia inks and high quality Fine Art Papers, Photo papers and Canvas. Our custom ICC Profiles allows us to take full advantage of the printer inkset.
ARCHIVING
Each camera-captured image immediately has 2 archive copies saved to temporary hard drive locations. During the color correction and proofing stages additional copies are saved on our server and backup. Finally, after final OK by the artist, each set of files is burned to 2 CD's and/or DVD's.
Building on our experience, we have created a production environment capable of providing our artists with world class archival color, priced cost effectively to insure their success.
The capture process
Capture, color correction, (2) proofs and a copy of the original scan, if requested, are included in the cost of the image capture.
